Dream Office Space

I found this gem this morning on Pinterest. The original pin's intention was to be some sort of classroom setup- however, I find this to be the absolute perfect corner design space. I have just enough boxes filled with craft supplies, paint and paper to fill those bookshelves, and I absolutely adore the bold color of the walls. Although, I'd probably pick my corporate color over the bold green. Although I love all of the storage, the part of the space that appeals to me the most is the giant dry erase board on the wall which would be the perfect way to organize, prioritize, and sketch out upcoming projects. I love me some post-it notes. I picture a huge, bright white desk hiding behind those bookshelves that's minimal and clean. The perfect amount of space for my Intuos4 tablet which is currently driving me crazy due to the fact that I have to slide out a keyboard drawer in order to use it. (Awkward angle: whomp, whomp.) Of course, the huge serif-ed cut out of "DO IT" is the perfect final touch to this space, because that truly needs to be every designer's mantra. Maybe someday this space will be mine :)  Thank you again, Pinterest. Love, love, love it.

Homemade Donuts

A few not-so-lazy Saturday mornings ago, I broke out yet another one of the many, many small appliances that we received as wedding gifts: Cuisinart's mini professional deep fryer. After reading the manual three times because frying oil scares the living daylights out of me (read: grease fire) I decided to venture into the world of home-made donuts. (Yes, I am aware that this is my second post about donuts. For the record, I am totally okay with that because they are delicious.  Everything in moderation, right?)  This was not a random pick out of my mini-fryer cookbook, however.  Making homemade donuts was quite a big deal for my family when I was growing up.  We would all go over to my grandpa's house and gather around in the kitchen while my mom or uncle stationed themselves at the fryer.  My job would always be to sugar the donuts after they were browned to perfection.  Everyone else's job was to eat them as fast as they possibly could.  Check and check.

While browsing ETSY's photography section, I came across this beautiful photo that I'd love to purchase for my dining room.  This fall, it became necessary for me to repaint our entire house, and I decided on a really nice neutral brown for our dining room, with bold raspberry and wine accents.  I think that a print of this photo would look wonderful in that room, and I hope to be able to make that happen some day.  Check out the full ETSY shop here.

Unusual Sky

It seems as though weather in the wintertime changes by the minute. We had a beautiful sunny day in Pittsburgh yesterday, but overnight, a nasty ice storm.  As the weather began to change in the afternoon, I snapped a few pictures of the unusual sky that I noticed while driving home from work.

Our house sits at the top of a hill overlooking the main road in our area, and a very large set of neighborhoods. We are surrounded by huge, old pine and walnut trees which tend to block most sunsets that we would be able to see otherwise.  Every now and then the sky gets colorful when the sun is still relatively high over the horizon.  Yesterday was one of those days.

Snowed In. (Sort of...)

I have been sick and home from work for the past few days (bummer).  Although I have not moved too far from my couch or bed, I was able to take a few minutes to enjoy, at least, looking at the snow that we got in Pittsburgh over the past few days.  Somehow, staring out the window became way more interesting than hearing the same news stories over and over again on daytime TV. Although every once in a while, its nice to have time to rest, I am definitely thankful that my days do not consist of TLC and Lifetime (not that they ever, ever will!) In the few hours that I was awake while trying to recover from this nasty fever/flu, I managed to successfully creep myself out over the many noises this fifty sixty-one year old house makes when the wind blows.  I swear to you that I have never heard some of the nosies before- but they are just the wind, ok? Ok. Regardless of the creepy noises, a midwinter snowstorm is always welcome, especially when you aren't able to go anywhere.  Tomorrow hopefully it will be back to the grind for this girl, sans my three-day 100 degree + temperature.
